Synopsis- SPOILER ALERT!!! |
|
The Shining Knight
takes the league to Camelot to help battle against Morgaine Le Fey, who has
collected a set of Black Knights from various timelines to battle Arthur.
Merlin sets Vixen aside while the league dukes it out with Morgaine. Merlin
shows Vixen dragon bones. She taps into the extinct dragon's abilities and
defeats Morgaine and the knights. |

Sir Justin's origins
are not discussed in the show but Black Canary recounts its highlights in
this comic. He had rescued Merlin from a tree-prison back in the days of
Camelot and his horse, Winged Victory was given wings as thanks. Merlin had
also enchanted his sword and armor. An ogre trapped him in ice for hundreds
of years until 1941 where he joined the All-Star Squadron and the Seven
Soldiers of Victory. This point raises a lot of eyebrows since it is
generally accepted that Superman led the first batch of widely-known
metahumans.

One wonders what
connection the comic makers were trying to make between Batman and Lancelot
by addressing their physical similarities more than once.
Vixen explains that
her totem connects her to the 'Morphogenic Field' and allows here to
tap into any one animal's abilities at a time. For this comic, she uses the
flacon and dragon. She also mentions that she can summon a T-rex's
abilities. |
|
Continuity Go Bye Bye |
|

Vixen calls on the
flying powers of a 'falcon'. This is not something she's been see to be able
to do despite the high altitude battle in the episode, 'Hunter's Moon' . Of
course, later on, she starts displaying flight and dragon breath once she
uses her Tantu totem to summon a dragon. |

One of the few times Green Lantern displayed an artistic use of his ring- he
dresses up in Knight's armor. |

Review
|
|
This book takes two bold steps that may or may not tear into JLU continuity.
One is Justin's origins and the other is Vixen's powers. These two are
arguable matters that may hinder enjoyment for hardcore JLU fans. however,
the book itself is very enjoyable, exuding a kiddie comic book air and yet
not getting too demographic-oriented. One might even catch Guinevere
throwing Batman looks as he looks a lot like Lancelot. (One may wonder,
don't Bruce Wayne and Batman have the same chin as well?) |
|
Notable for |
|
- the appearances
of Camelot's characters.
- expanding on Vixen,
albeit in a debatable fashion.. |
