Synopsis- SPOILER ALERT!!!

Jay Garrick, the first Flash, visits an elementary school but gets a cold shoulder from one of the kids, disbelieving that he’s the Flash. Elsewhere, the Mirror Master traps Flash, being the only leaguer he hasn’t trapped yet. Suddenly sensing a disturbance in the speed force, Jay bolts and gets to the Watchtower. He finds the watchtower empty and investigates. Apparently the entire league teleported down with its staff following a bomb scare. But now someone has them trapped in the teleporter beam. Jay realizes that it is the Mirror Master’s doing and battles him. However, he messes up Jay’s vision causing him to lose balance and perception. Jay quickly fixes this and rescues Flash. Soon, Flash knocks out the Mirror Master and they are able to release the leaguers. Jay asks Flash (and presumably the league) to join him back at the elementary school. There Flash proceeds to tell the kid from earlier how Jay, the First Flash saved the whole Justice League.

Continuity Peg-

Continuity References-

Jay tells the kid that he is part of the Justice Society. Of course this begs the question- who is this Justice Society, if their members are all in the league. Also this issue states that Wally West is the 2nd Flash. Of course this may just be the point of view of the child. But then again Wally West was the police scientist in ‘Flash and Substance’.

We see the original Javelin once again for some reason. Oh well, they never decommissioned it anyway.

Continuity Go Bye Bye

Fire is mis-colored as a blonde, now looking a tad like Black Canary.

Review

Seems to be more of an ‘Adventures in the DCU’ story arc than a JLU one, but it does try to tie in with the rest of the JLU albeit while raising many questions. A lot of people find the sudden inclusion of the Justice Society very uncomfortable, but it isn’t all too far-fetched when you think about it. I’d rave once again about Barberi’s art but then again when wasn’t he brilliant?

Notable for

- introducing the first Flash and mentioning the Justice Society.
